Temporomandibular Disorders include a wide range of neuromuscular and temporomandibular joint conditions often demanding multidisciplinary management over considerable periods of time.

Although our understanding has improved, treatment modalities remain numerous and often controversial.

As Dr Lego consults at the Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Clinic, Oral Health Centre, University of Western Australia, in conjunction with specialists in the field, he is able to assist with management for a variety of temporomandibular disorders, including MRI and CT assessment, conservative treatments such as ultrasound and physiotherapy, appliance therapy and occlusal analysis, and appropriate specialist referral for refractory and / or more complicated cases demanding a multidisciplinary approach.

Although many of these conditions share a multifactorial aetiology, the importance of a well-stabilized occlusion (bite) in a stable musculoskeletal position cannot be overemphasized in the management of these cases.

Dr Lego and his team also share a strong interest in bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching) and the belief that many dental complications are due to a combination of bruxism coupled with a prior history of dental intervention.

Course of Action
At Dental Sense we will initially complete comprehensive clinical and radiographic examination, to facilitate assessment and treatment planning. Initial management will focus on conservative non-invasive modalities, whilst refractory or more complicated conditions will demand specialist referral often at a multidisciplinary level.

Do you provide a warranty?
We provide a 3-year warranty against mechanical failure for all treatment provided, assuming patients comply with treatment plans in their entirety, with work being replaced at health fund rebate or equivalent.
